Racial Harmony Day 2013

When is it?
Actual Day: Sunday 21 July 2013

We are commemorating Racial Harmony Day in conjunction with Rainbow Day 3 on Tuesday 23 July 2013.
With the help of their teachers, the Primary 4 pupils are putting up a concert for us in the school hall at 10.45 am.

"Celebrating Singapore” is this year’s Racial Harmony Day theme. Singapore’s diversity gives us much cause to celebrate, as we work towards envisioning and creating a more inclusive Singapore.

Why do we commemorate Racial Hamrony Day?
Racial Harmony Day (种族和谐日) is celebrated annually on 21 July in Singapore. The event is to commemorate the 1964 Race Riots, which took place on 21 July 1964.

Racial Harmony Day is a day to reflect on, and celebrate Singapore's success as a racially harmonious nation. We live in a society built on a rich diversity of culture and heritage. Students are encouraged to be dressed in their traditional costumes such as the Cheongsam, the Baju Kurung and Punjabi Suit.

Dear colleagues and pupils,

I enjoyed the NE Show, especially the fireworks. I hoped the rest of you did as well.
For pupils who expressed their wish to watch the fireworks again, you can catch it at the actual NDP on National Day.

I would like to thank everyone ( staff, pupils, volunteers and army officers ) for your help and cooperation, as well as the valuable feedback.

I would also like to thank the parents for their kind understanding and apologise for the delay at the end of the event.
