Actual Day: Sunday 21 July 2013
We are commemorating Racial Harmony Day in conjunction with Rainbow Day 3 on Tuesday 23 July 2013.
With the help of their teachers, the Primary 4 pupils are putting up a concert for us in the school hall at 10.45 am.
"Celebrating Singapore” is this year’s Racial Harmony Day theme. Singapore’s diversity gives us much cause to celebrate, as we work towards envisioning and creating a more inclusive Singapore.
Why do we commemorate Racial Hamrony Day?
Racial Harmony Day (种族和谐日) is celebrated annually on 21 July in Singapore. The event is to commemorate the 1964 Race Riots, which took place on 21 July 1964.
Racial Harmony Day is a day to reflect on, and celebrate Singapore's success as a racially harmonious nation. We live in a society built on a rich diversity of culture and heritage. Students are encouraged to be dressed in their traditional costumes such as the Cheongsam, the Baju Kurung and Punjabi Suit.
